New Job - same old me?

So as you may or may have not heard, I recently got a job! (Yay, for me being off the unemployment line). I am now the evening show host at 99.9 Virgin Radio Kelowna. I got pretty lucky I would say because the last time I was in radio was at the end of 2016 at 102.7 The Peak in Vancouver. People kept asking me if I would ever get back into it and I honestly thought that the ship had sailed so to speak but I guess there was a back up proverbial lifeboat waiting for me so here I am - living my best life in The Okanagan.

Moment of vulnerability here for you - when I got the call that I got the gig, I was really pumped but also totally scared. My whole life, I have been bouncing around form place to place, I had never lived in one city for more than 3 years. Personally, I wanted to continue traveling, however my best friend had a long talk with me and we agreed it would be best for me to go get a proper job, settle down in 1 city and try to start dating someone instead of just messing around. I really wanted to live

the carefree life but it's not a sustainable one so I'm settling down now in Kelowna and making roots here. Heck, I even got a actual contract for my rental place instead of just a month-to-month!

(From top to bottom: These are some pictures of me and my best friend - Itay throughout the years hanging out at different places around the world. Top - Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2018, Middle - Delmonico, Las Vegas in 2015, Bottom - Zion National Park, Utah - 2019).

Since I'm working at a Top 40 radio station, here are my current Top 5 songs at the moment.

1. Post Malone - Circles

When I first heard his song, 'rockstar', I was like meh. I could see hwy it was big but I wasn't a huge fan. I was at a Subway in Edmonton late at night eating alone and thinking about life when this song came on and I was hooked!

2. Camila Cabello - My, Oh My

This song has a dangerous side to it that I can't explain. Maybe it's in the lyrics,"He's only here for one thing...but so am I". The idea here is that there is this mysterious sort of side to both the guy and the girl and neither one just wants to say exactly what's on their mind. Loving the conjecture!

3. Blackbear - Hot Girl Bummer

This song is kinda negative if you think about but it has cool beat to it and a fun song to work out to. Of course the radio edit is completely different than the actual tune. This song is a constant reminder to me not hang out with the wrong people and create a good network of friends. (Easier said than done)

4. Ed Sheeran (feat Camila Cabello) - South of the Border

Fun fact: I actually once met Ed Sheeran! He was opening up for Taylor Swift on her 'Red' tour back in 2012 in Edmonton. I thought when I met him, he would be another 'fly-by-night' artist but boy was I wrong. This guy is just producing banger after banger. I love listening to this song while I cook. Yea, that's right - I cook! It also inspires me to take my next vacation to Central America!

5. Shawn Mendes (feat. Camila Cabello) - Senorita

I could get my sister in trouble by saying this but I know she loves this song. (We come from a religious family, she shouldn't be listening to this music #OhWell). Side note - Even though I work in radio now, ironically I wasn't allowed to listen to radio as a kid. This is one of those songs that I could work out to which is weird because I usually like those angry heavy-metal pump up songs!

So there you have it, I'm slowly opening up to you like an old creaky door in a  post-apocalyptic low-budge horror movie.

Keep living the dream!
